I would like to take this opportunity to remind you here of the importance of regularly backing up your Data Recovery.

Without going into details, I refer you to Franziska’s posts on this subject and strongly encourage you to create a Dropbox account (following this link will earn you some extra free space, just like yours truly ;))

It so happened that for Data Recovery that I had just erased, on a hard disk where afterwards I had not carried out any other operation (neither writing a new file, nor erasing other data), this software worked better than anything I had tried before.

I have no share in this company and can not guarantee that the software will work for data that is more complicated to find (here it was just a “total” deletion (without going through the trash) by mistake).

In my specific case, it took him a few hours to identify all the recoverable lost files on the hard disk (a partition of approximately 675GB filled to just under 40%) and two hours to restore approximately 15,000 files (25GB of data ). Which still cost me €49… to save two to Wikipedia three days of work (well, to avoid losing them…) and allow me to quickly write two blog posts before setting off again on the adventure of end of thesis…
